Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF)
September 7, 2017 – September 17, 2017
For the average moviegoer, there’s one particular event in Toronto that gets the city buzzing; The Toronto International Film Festival, more commonly known as its acronym, TIFF.
TIFF, simply put, is Hollywood’s barometer of what will happen in the movie industry for the next six months. Since launching in 1976, this 10-day festival (September 7 – September 17) has become one of the largest and most prestigious in the world. Not only does it showcase up-and-coming performances, it sets the pace for the year’s awards chatter, with the Oscars wrapping it up in March.
TIFF also propels emerging filmmakers onto the international scene, in hopes that their work will turn industry heads and take their careers to the next level. Some of this year’s screenings featured The Shape of Water, Professor Marston & The Wonder Woman, Zama, Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami, and more.
This year, hundreds of thousands of attendees participated. These numbers include an astonishing line-up of A-List celebrities, some of whom you could find roaming the streets of Yorkville, and eating in our trendy restaurants while taking a break to shop along Bloor Street’s Mink Mile.
There’s no wonder so many people fall in love with our magnificent city to end up purchasing high-end condos and luxurious homes in and around The Annex, Forest Hill and Yorkville to name a few.
So, whether you’re in the industry, or just a fan, TIFF creates a vibe so potent that you can’t help being carried away by the wave of excitement emanating from it.
